The Missions

Multifunktional modul series

Possible medical devices

What is MMD?

The solution for a modular and multifunctional integration of cabin interior for ambulance.

The cabin interior of commuter class aircraft are not yet standardized and designed for a single purpose only. The aircraft's mission is defined at the start of its lifecycle. Changes of configuration are complex and therefore rarely done. Plenty of aircraft carry unneeded equipment permanently, which increases costs. Or aircraft stay grounded instead of flying, due to being "wrongly" equipped.

However, nowadays it is necessary to integrate hardware not only for a single purpose but also for multiple roles and missions. Therefore a modular concept for the cabin interior is needed. To make aircraft use more flexible, the project partners for MMD have joined together.

For example, several air ambulance aircraft are equipped to transport patients over long distances. The idea of MMD is to arrange this set-up with a series of modules. Depending on its use basic modules and accessories can be combined. If necessary a standard patient transport can be upgraded to an intensive medical care unit in very short time.
